Reflections in still water

A really simple and effective way to paint reflections in still water

Tips

  • Spacing
Although it looks random and accidental, I paid careful attention to the placement, size and spacing of the bushes along the river bank. Aim for uneven sized bushes, varying spaces between them and a balanced arrangement across the width of the river bank.

  • Clean Brushes
When you drag the bush shape reflections down into the water, keep your brush clean at all times. If you allow the accumulated pigment to widen the reflections too much, the effect will be lost

  • Substitute Colors
Indian Yellow can be used in place of Quinacridone Gold.
